Overhaul complete for Harrogate hotel
Building consultancy Silverstone has overseen the revamp of the former St George Hotel on Ripon Road, renamed the Harrogate Inn by new owner The Inn Collection Group.
The firm acquired the hotel last year, instigating a renovation of the 96-bedroom destination. Corby-based 7formation was principal contractor for fit-out works, with Silverstone working as project manager.
Aspects of the scheme included moving the main entrance to a more prominent position on the property and adding “statement” stone steps leading up to it.
The refurbishment has created two new bars and restaurants, with feature outdoor drinking and dining areas and six new, executive bedroom suites on the ground floor. The roof and external elevations have been renewed and repaired, a new kitchen installed and much of the interior repainted.
The hotel, which was built in the late 1800s, reopened in July.
Tom Wright, senior chartered building surveyor at Silverstone Building Consultancy’s Leeds office, said: “The works programme has gone really well and the new bars, in particular, are looking very impressive.
“This is our fifth refurbishment for The Inn Collection Group and following our initial appointment as project manager and principal designer, our remit was extended to include the contract administration, which is testament to the strength of our ongoing partnership.”
Louise Stewart, property director at The Inn Collection Group, said: “We’re thrilled with how this renovation has turned out. The hotel has been sympathetically restored in the proven style of The Inn Collection Group and will be a great asset to the town.”
Silverstone, a firm of chartered building surveyors and project managers with offices in Leeds, London and Newcastle, has previously managed the refresh of Inn Collection locations including Ripon Spa Hotel and the former Park Hotel, Tynemouth.
