Next steps for Our Cultural Heart
CCL Facades, the glazing arm of Caddick Construction, has been appointed by BAM on a £2.5m package of works at Huddersfield’s regeneration project.
The Wakefield-based façade specialist will start on site this month, installing aluminium curtain walling, automatic doors and windows, and internal fire screens at the grade two-listed Queensgate Market and Huddersfield Library.
Work is expected to be finished by autumn, and is the second contract awarded to the company by a West Yorkshire council.
This work for Kirklees follows a £4.8m project for a bespoke façade at Bradford’s One City Place office building, which completed in December 2023 and was developed by the council alongside Muse.
This stage of Our Cultural Heart work will form part of BAM’s foodhall, which will feature independent stalls around a central seating area, and a glass-fronted library.
Tony Blake, managing director of CCL Facades, commented: “West Yorkshire is our home and we’re very proud to be delivering another landmark project that sits within a wider regeneration masterplan in the region.
“As a grade two-listed refurbishment, the first phase of Our Cultural Heart requires meticulous design and delivery to create a striking, modernised development that retains the market’s 50-year heritage and we’re looking forward to starting this exciting project in February.”
