Middlesbrough considers Gresham land transfer

The move would place the land in the hands of the Middlesbrough Development Corporation, the government body tasked with regenerating the region.

The council will review the proposal to transfer land in Gresham to the corporation, which has been set at a nil value.

Aiming to advance the £200m masterplan for the town, which will be developed by iMpeC and Buccleuch Property and includes a 200-bed hotel, 238 apartments, and a 450-bed PBSA.

Wates has been appointed as the contractor on that project.

Fairfield by Marriott is already in discussions to open a 200-room hotel at the corner of Borough Road near Union Street and Hartington Road, with Wates once again the contractor.
