Manner tops out Leeds PBSA
Now billed as The Store House, the new-build 369-bedspace development at the former House of Fraser site on Briggate has reached the highest point of construction.
Approved unanimously at committee by Leeds City Council, the student accommodation and retail project has been designed by Corstorphine & Wright with interior designer Project Studio.
The construction partners for the scheme are Erith and HG Construction. Spawforths and Civic Engineers are also on the professional team.
A topping-out ceremony was held last week, with representatives from Leeds City Council, Leeds BID and Leeds Civic Trust, as well as project team members and associated partners.
Along with bedrooms, Manner’s scheme offers more than 19,000 sq ft of amenity spaces. This will include co-working spaces, fitness & wellness suites, dining and recreational areas, a private cinema and a roof terrace. It will also provide more than 24,000 sq ft of prime high street retail.
The Store House development will be available for occupancy from the 2025-26 academic year onwards.
Richard James, managing director at Manner, said: “Manner is incredibly proud to have reached this key milestone in our construction programme. Centred around the lifestyle of today’s modern student, whilst also bringing significant benefits to the wider community, The Store House will deliver positive long-term impact to the future of Leeds city centre.
“We look forward to welcoming residents soon and providing them with a first-class living experience during their studies in this fantastic city.”
Manner is also looking to advance a 37-storey student living scheme in Manchester, in a redevelopment of the landmark but dilapidated Hotspur Press site.
On the Leeds project, Steven May, group chief executive at Erith, said: “We are proud to contribute to this transformative development, bringing our expertise in demolition and construction solutions to ensure the project’s success.
“The dedicated team has worked tirelessly to overcome challenges and deliver exceptional results, paving the way for a sustainable and vibrant future for the Leeds community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have and are honoured to have played a part in its realisation.”
