Elland 233-house scheme set for approval

Crest Nicholson’s plans for the West Yorkshire development were submitted to Calderdale Council last November and will be considered at a meeting on 3 December.

Designed by Sten Architecture and consultant ID Planning, the site is located next to Old Earth Primary School and to the southern side of the River Calder, not far from the M62 and close to the Leeds/Manchester railway at Brighouse.

The 20-acre site is open grassland and will consist of 10 one-bed bungalows, 52 two-bed, 107 three-bed, 47 four-bed, and 15 five-bed houses. Of these, 46 homes will be affordable (20%).

Houses will be comprised of terraced, detached, and semi-detached, ranging from bungalows to 2.5 storey height.

The site has received objections from Calder Works Quarry, which is concerned that further restrictions to its times of operating and noise output will impact its business.
