Citu founder joins Academy of Urbanism
Jonathan Wilson has joined the board of directors at the not-for-profit urban design organisation.
With Citu’s focus on sustainable living, including its exemplar Climate Innovation District in Leeds, Wilson is well-placed to add to the academy’s work in promoting and aiding best practices in urban design.
The academy aims to improve the lives of city residents by working alongside government and developers to create sustainable, healthy urban settings.
Wilson has joined the board as a non-executive director alongside London-based Siddiqa Islam, who is interim director of regeneration, housing supply & assets for London’s Tower Hamlets.
Wilson said: “As someone who is deeply passionate about creating sustainable, people-centred places, I’m thrilled to contribute to the Academy’s mission of celebrating and advancing the development of great places.
“Urban design, sustainability, and community are central to my own purpose, and they align closely with the work we’re doing at Citu.
“I’m committed to sharing my experience to support the Academy’s impact at a place-based scale, helping spaces and communities to thrive.
“The Academy works to deepen our understanding of what makes urban environments truly successful, creating towns and cities that are not only sustainable and liveable, but most importantly, designed for people.
“In this role, I’ll be championing ideas that improve quality of life and help transform urban spaces for the better.”
