Our clients’ Residential Valuation team in Leeds needs a Surveyor, Senior Surveyor, or Associate in a replacement role. Busy, stable, and very successful in their market, the team needs a skilled valuer who can contribute and/or generate, lead (D.O.E.) and take responsibility for a wide variety of instructions, ranging from prime homes to development sites; and from investment portfolios to strategic land.
Clients range from banks and investors, to housing associations, local authorities and developers, all of the calibre you would expect for a firm of our client’s size and reputation. Your skills as a valuer will be coupled with client relationship management and active business development.
Strong residential valuation experience is a prerequisite for the role.
Working in support of an Associate and/or Director, and with other colleagues both making up the team in Leeds and in our wider Northern team, this role would suit someone who is proficient in:
- development appraisals (experience of Argus Developer is a distinct advantage),
- investment valuations (ideally including DCF) and
Being highly numerate, comfortable handling data, and with a keen eye for detail, you will be able to undertake report writing and hold strong communication skills with clients, both lenders and borrowers.
The role is based in the Leeds city centre, but with hybrid working (at least 3 days in the office). Some regular travel regionally, and occasionally to London, may be required. You must have a full driving licence and the ability to travel for your work.
Required or desirable skills and experience for this role:
- MRICS qualification (essential) and 4+ years’ PQE.
- RICS Registered Valuer.
- Strong experience in the valuation of residential property, not confined to a single asset type or approach to valuation.
- Fluent user of MS Excel.
- Comfortable handling data.
- Excellent written English, with the ability to produce high quality, accurate reports in MS Word with impeccable attention to detail.
- Experience of successfully managing client relationships and instructions, including being able to explain and justify approach and assumptions adopted to clients.
- Experience in coaching junior colleagues and supervising their work.
- Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Strong work ethic, with a demonstrable commitment to client service.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
Person Specification/Requirements
- MRICS qualified and Registered Valuer preferable.
- 1 – 5 years’ post MRICS qualification experience.
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, enabling the development of good relationships with both clients and colleagues.
- Highly numerate with the ability to grasp complex investment scenarios.
- Organised, focused and high attention to detail.
- Team player who deals effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work in fast paced dynamic environment.
- Passionate about the residential sector.
- Residential investment experience preferable but not essential.
- Valid UK driving licence.
