Second deal in the bag at Konect62
Logistics rental provider TIP Group has signed a 10-year lease at the Knottingley development, taking a 2.5-acre open storage plot, a deal that follows Oakland International taking 160,000 sq ft.
Headquartered in Amsterdam, the firm is a provider of short-term rental and long-term leasing of vehicles to the transport sector, also providing a range of services such as maintenance and roadside support.
The news comes just weeks after supply chain and logistics specialist Oakland International also signed at Konect62, taking a 161,860 sq ft unit.
Cole Waterhouse and Henderson Park are Konect62’s developers. DTRE, Sixteen Real Estate and Savills are joint letting agents.
TIP Group has taken a 2.5-acre open storage plot to expand its West Yorkshire operations.
The first phase of Konect62 has been speculatively built by joint venture partners Henderson Park and Cole Waterhouse to provide 375,000 sq ft of logistics and industrial space with an additional 30-acre serviced plot that can accommodate several build-to-suit options including “Big K”, a 735,000 sq ft unit with detailed planning permission.
The joint venture has a planning application awaiting determination for phase two of the development, which would create a further 802,000 sq ft of high-quality logistics and manufacturing space across units ranging in size from 4,000 to 375,000 sq ft.
Phase two will also include an electric vehicle charging station and the new site amenity provision billed as KRATE, which will provide versatile accommodation including a new food and beverage offer and incubator spaces for SMEs, along with planting and seating.
Robert Titterton, development manager, industrial & logistics at Cole Waterhouse, said: “TIP customers include some of the UK’s leading logistics companies, so it is fitting that the company has chosen to expand its local operations here at Konect62.
“Our site enables TIP to provide the very best service to their clients at a location that is extremely accessible from the motorway at both junctions 33 and 34 of the M62. With a planning decision imminent for phase two, it is great to secure two lettings in such quick succession and for TIP to be joining us at the start of this journey.”
Mike Furnival, managing director, UK & Ireland at TIP Group, said: “TIP Knottingley is one of our most strategically important locations, not least due to its accessibility from the area’s motorway network.
“A growth in business levels at the branch recently means we need to expand our workshop and has created a requirement for further space for our fleet of hire trailers. We are delighted to have secured this additional space on a long-term basis, as it will serve to enhance TIP’s trailer rental capability in the region.”
