      The Client & Opportunity

      A highly respected national real estate consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced and MRICS/IRRV qualified lease consultancy surveyor (up to associate level) to join their Leeds business rates team.

      We are looking for a highly motivated and driven professional who ideally possess a detailed understanding of Billing Authority processes and procedures and Rating Statute and Legislation.

      The successful candidate will be a team player who is commercially astute with good business skills and will have a background in surveying. If at Associate level, the candidate should be a self-starter, be client facing and be willing to carry out business generation activities to assist in the growth of our rating business.

      Responsibilities

      The successful candidate will take responsibility for their own client portfolios and will be working alongside senior colleagues.The candidate will undertake negotiations on complex rates mitigations issues with both Billing Authorities and the Valuation Office Agency.

      Key responsibilities will include:

      • Client Advice – business rates advice and mitigation
      • Business Development – build on our existing client base
      • Negotiation – with both Billing Authorities and Valuation Officers
      • Teamwork – work closely with existing team members within Leeds as well as nationally, on all aspects of business rates advice

      Technical Skills

      • A detailed understanding of Billing Authority processes and procedures and Rating Statute and Legislation.
      • A detailed understanding of “Check, Challenge and Appeal”.
      • Understanding of Rating Valuations and all forms of valuation (Contractors Test, Comparative method, Receipts & Expenditure).
      • Review of valuations, submission of Checks, Challenges and Appeals to Valuation Tribunal.
      • Negotiate settlements to deliver fees.
      • A proficiency in Microsoft Office.

      Remuneration

      You’ll be rewarded with an industry competitive salary and benefits including but not limited to:

      • Basic Salary from £35,000 to circa £55,000+ per annum (D.O.E.)
