A fly-through has been released to show how the £300m Sheffield project will look when completed.

West Bar Sheffield is being delivered by Urbo (West Bar), a joint venture between Urbo Regeneration and Peveril Securities, in collaboration with Sheffield City Council.

Asteer Planning and 5plus Architects head the professional team. Peveril’s parent company Bowmer + Kirkland is main contractor.

Animmation studio Dematerial worked with Urbo and 5plus to create the fly-through.

A project long on the city’s wish-list, work has started on the seven-acre brownfield West Bar development following a funding deal to secure £150m from Legal & General.

The scheme sits on the Inner Ring Road between Sheffield’s Kelham Island, Cathedral and Castlegate neighbourhoods and will ultimately bring 1m sq ft of mixed-use space including more than 500,000 sq ft of office accommodation and hundreds of apartments.

The first phase of three buildings is already well under way: No.1 West Bar Square will provide 100,000 sq ft of office space, while a further two buildings are on track to deliver Soho Yard – a 368-home build-to-rent scheme owned and managed by L&G.

Urbo’s Peter Swallow said: “West Bar is a leading example of what can be achieved through effective public and private sector collaboration. To achieve what we have, with the difficult economic headwinds, to make the scheme commercially viable and deliverable was especially challenging.”

The fly-through was first revealed to Sheffield Property Association members last month.
